Garden Tour

Our Extension Master Gardeners sponsor a variety of events throughout the year for area gardeners.  Though some events are currently on a temporary hiatus due to COVID-19 limitations, we continue to endeavor to offer as many educational opportunities for gardeners as feasible.

Design & Grow Gardening Workshop

This workshop is typically held all day on a Saturday in late winter or early Spring. It includes a variety of seminars of interest to beginning and experienced gardeners. The majority of the seminar topics focus on ornamentals and landscape. The cost will vary from year to year.

Two Design & Grow workshops were held virtually in 2021 - one on March 6th ("Food for All") and one on March 27th ("Beauty for All").

Tree Festival (suspended for 2021)

This event features seminars, demonstrations, and displays about selecting, planting, and maintaining trees. Local vendors are on hand to sell trees and related products. This event is typically held in late March or early April.  Though we were not able to schedule a Tree Festival for 2021, we hope to bring this event back in spring of 2022.

Herb Day (suspended for 2021)

Herb Day is put on by the Master Gardeners and the Herb Society of South Central Kansas. The event features seminars, demonstrations, and displays about the Herb of the Year and other culinary herbs. Local vendors sell herbs and other plants for spring planting. The Herb Society sells a delicious brunch and other snacks.  This event has been postponed for 2021 but will likely return in 2022.  In its place, a Community Bloom & Grow drive-thru event was held on May 1st, with free vegetable or pollinator plant kits given away.

Garden Tour (suspended for 2021)

The Garden Tour typically features 6 to 8 local gardens each year. The gardens show a range of landscape and plant options that are suited to our area. This is a great way to get ideas for your own yard! The Garden Tour is usually held in mid to late May.  Though cancelled for 2021, be sure to check back next spring for Garden Tour updates, and in the meantime click here to enjoy the 2020 Virtual Garden Tour
