Lawns
In Sedgwick County, there are 4 different grasses to choose from for lawns and athletic fields: tall fescue, bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and buffalograss. Each grass has its benefits and challenges. An attractive lawn can highlight and complement your landscaping and add value to your property.
On Our Grounds
Our grounds feature irrigated tall fescue near the building and non-irrigated Buffalograss around the outer edges of the parking lot in our Arboretum. We do not currently have any areas that demonstrate Zoysia or Bermudagrass.
FAQs
I'm am planting or overseeding my fescue lawn this fall. When is the best time? What do I need to know to get my grass growing well?
We recommend seeding or sodding fescue in the fall, from September 1st to October 15th. Planting later in the fall may result in winter injury to the new grass. Here are some resources that will help you with planting your lawn.
