Agriculture

Agriculture - Our Mission

We provide a variety of information, classes, workshops and demonstrations for agriculture producers large and small with the goal of increasing production, profitability, and environmental protection. Many of our agriculture programs are held during the late fall and winter. Generally, field tours are held in the spring and summer.

How May We Help You?

Having issues with a crop field? Bring us a sample plant to look at, or have us come take a look! Need a soil sample? We will gladly send your soil sample to the lab, write recommendations, and discuss your results with you when we get them back! Not sure what to feed your livestock? Give us a call! We can work with you and your goals to develop a ration that will meet the nutritional needs of your livestock.

CENSUS OF AGRICULTURE OVERVIEW OF SEDGWICK COUNTY

Purple tractorTeens in Cowley, Sedgwick, and Sumner Counties have the opportunity to take a tractor safety course on May 28th, 2026, which is necessary for working on farms for someone other than their parents or guardians. See Flyer here. If you are 14 or 15 years old and wish to work on farms, you must complete a tractor safety course as required by the U.S. Department of Labor. This involves finishing coursework, passing a driving test, and attending an in-person class. The course is available to youth aged 13 and older, but certification is granted only after turning 14 and completing the required driving hours. Click here to register for tractor safety.
