Since 1914,  K-State Research & Extension has provided practical, trustworthy education to the people of Kansas. Here in Sedgwick County, Extension services are available to citizens in the areas of 4-H, Family & Consumer Sciences, Horticulture, Agriculture, and Aging. Our focus in Kansas is on solving grand challenges in our state pertaining to water, health, global food systems, vitalizing our communities, and developing tomorrow's leaders. 

We are Kansas State University in your local community. And we are proud to serve Sedgwick County as your "Knowledge for Life" headquarters. 

Business Office

The flagpole locates the business office entrance. Our hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The receptionist fields from the public approximately 30,000 phone calls each year.

In our Response Center, we assist individuals with issues ranging from outdoor insect identification to disease diagnostics of trees, plants, flowers, and lawns to advice on water-wise landscaping.

Our Learning Center features subject-matter materials pertaining to such things as canning fruits and vegetables to how to rid your home of bed bugs, all FREE to the public. The following holidays are officially observed by Sedgwick County government, and our office is closed: January 1st, January 20th, February 17th, May 25th, July 3rd, September 7th, November 11th, November 26th and 27th, and December 25th, 2020.

Our Facility

The Sedgwick County Extension Education Center is a 41,000 square foot facility located on 12 acres at the corner of 21st and Ridge Road in west Wichita. Built-in 1994, it is the headquarters for all Extension programs and is the property of Sedgwick County.
