Emeritus Master Gardeners

Extension Master Gardener Emeritus is a special category of membership bestowed as an honor upon an active member by majority vote of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board, Agent(s), and Master Gardener Program Coordinator. The requirements that must be met to qualify for the designation of Emeritus shall be determined by the Advisory Board and be contained in the program guide. An Extension Master Gardener Emeritus shall remain on the current membership roster and have all the rights and privileges of an active member.

EMERITUS STATUS NOMINATION FORM

1. Master Gardeners may be nominated for Emeritus status by themselves, a fellow Master Gardener, or staff member using the nomination form. The selection committee reserves the right to select additional candidates for Emeritus status than only those nominated.
2. The Selection committee shall consist of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board, Agent(s), and Master Gardener Program Coordinator.

The criteria for being awarded Emeritus status are as follows:

1. At least 10 years of active membership
2. Has demonstrated leadership, superior involvement and outstanding participation in one or more aspects of the program
3. Has completed at least 1,000 volunteer hours over the course of their service.
4. Exceptions to the above may be made by the Selection Committee in the case of unique circumstances.

Rights & Responsibilities of Extension Master Gardener Emeritus:

1. Emeritus members have all the rights of active members.
2. Emeritus members are exempted from minimum volunteer service hour requirements.
3. Emeritus members are encouraged to remain as active as possible.
4. Emeritus members that are actively volunteering should:
   1. Report their volunteer hours annually on the same schedule as active members
   2. Attend at least 6 hours of advanced training annually.
