Backyard Birds Kit
- Grades: K-3 (ages 5-8)
- Group Size: Maximum 25 youth
- Time: 50 minutes
Students will learn about all the different birds that one might see in their own backyard in Kansas. This lesson starts out with a discussion on what youth might already know about birds, followed by a book about backyard birds and their music. Finally, students will have the chance to illustrate their very own ornithologist’s journal where they can document all of their future bird-watching adventures!
Availability: Two week advance notice is required to schedule this lesson.
Teacher Provides:
- Open space for youth to sit during the lesson.
- Tables/ desks/ hard surface for craft activity.
- Crayons/ markers/ colored pencils for children to use during the craft activity.
Additional activity:
- You may choose to make toilet paper tube binoculars with your students to continue the theme of this lesson
