Backyard Birds Kit

Request Backyard Birds Kit

Students will learn about all the different birds that one might see in their own backyard in Kansas. This lesson starts out with a discussion on what youth might already know about birds, followed by a book about backyard birds and their music. Finally, students will have the chance to illustrate their very own ornithologist’s journal where they can document all of their future bird-watching adventures!

Availability: Two week advance notice is required to schedule this lesson.

Teacher Provides:

  • Open space for youth to sit during the lesson.
  • Tables/ desks/ hard surface for craft activity.
  • Crayons/ markers/ colored pencils for children to use during the craft activity.
