Time: 45 minutes

Exploring Seasonal Plant Produce

REQUEST LESSON
This lesson is only available from September through November.

This 45 minute presentation engages the students' minds, bodies, and senses as we discuss growing and eating seasonal fruits and vegetables. The lesson includes an active game where students learn about what fruits and vegetables grow in Kansas. A local farmer or gardener guest shares how they grow their crops, illustrated with pictures. A read aloud book discusses mindful eating, followed by a local food tasting/sampling activity where the children use descriptive words to mindfully sample seasonal produce items.

The ability to project a PowerPoint slide set onto a screen will provide learning opportunity for students in this presentation.

Availability: 3 weeks advance notice is required to schedule this lesson.
Requests for this lesson are scheduled on a first come, first served basis and depend on the availability of the Master Gardener volunteers.
